Steps
Step 1 - Introduction
1. Answer the question: What impact do we have on our planet?
Step 2 - Ecosystem
1. Select the ecosystem the team wishes to research located on the resources page, click on its name.
2. Determine team member roles.
3. Begin researching information requested on the summary points sheet.
Step 3 - Environmental Investigation
1. Investigate the different environmental impact humans have had on your ecosystem.
2. Investigate the possible environmental impact global warming can have on your ecosystem.
3. Include this information on your summary points sheet from step 2.
Step 4 - Information Report
1. Take the information researched and write informative paragraphs where your team will share the valuable facts you gathered. You and your partners will write a rough draft of your information, read and revise, self-edit it, give it to your teacher to edit, make necessary changes, and then type your final draft worthy of publication, you may discuss format with teacher.
Step 5 - Ecosystem Map
1. Print a blank map of Australia.
2. Colour the selected ecosystem on the map by following the knowledge you gained from the research.
3. Add it to your information report.
Step 6 - Create Your Ecosystem
1. Create your ecosystem using 3D computer software called Kahootz 3.
Your teacher will give directions for this project. Each student is responsible for collaboratively creating the project. Download storyboard.
Project requirements:
- Your ecosystem must include plants and animals common to your ecosystem
- Your project must have colour true to nature in your ecosystem.
- The final product must show the original state of a ecosystem and the changes occurred from human impact and global warming.
- Your teacher may provide you with additional requirements for this project.
- The Expression should be under 10 mins.
Step 7 - Oral Presentation - 15 minutes
1. The team will present information and 3D project to the class.
Step 8 - Final
1. Once again, answer the question: What impact do we have on our planet?
Step 9 - Thinker Challenge
You have completed your quest for knowledge about an ecosystem and are taking an imaginary trip to that place. Imagine arriving and discovering that common flora and fauna are disappearing, water and habitat are changing, the climate is no longer the same. These changes are starting to come about because of pollution to our planet, Earth. You also discover that a multibillion dollar company wishes to build and devlop on this ecosystem.
